Thanks for fixing the table background on the various electronic music genres. Out of curiosity, what browser are you using? "lightgray" works fine for me in Galeon/Mozilla. Also, you might want to outline a rationale/policy for choosing background colors on Wikipedia:WikiProject Music genres so that when new genres are added, we have guidelines. "Smartly organized fleet"

I'm not sure what you mean by this statement (as seen in Delta Air Lines). Can you clarify what "smartly organized" means? I would think that Ryanair and Southwest Airlines beat Continental and Delta hands down when it comes to organizing their fleet. - Sekicho 23:01, Nov 4, 2004 (UTC)

I mean out of the world's major airlines. It means that the fleet is well planned out and are not so diverse. Also, I said that Delta and Continental are some of the most smartly organized fleets, not the absolutely best organized. For example, Northwest operates a fleet of Boeings, Airbuses, and McDonnell Douglases (DC-9 and DC-10, of which went out of production long before the acquisition by Boeing). The MD-80 and MD-90 were still produced after the acquisition. I wouldn't consider Northwest's fleet very smartly organized.

Also, Delta's MD-90s are possibly on the chopping block for retirement. They were originally Delta's 727 replacements, but the 737-800 proved to be a better aircraft for them. Their fate depends on Delta's financial condition. Andros 1337 23:58, 4 Nov 2004 (UTC)

For that matter, "smartly organized" isn't a clear opinion. When I read it, it sounds like you're saying that Delta and Continental have more intelligent people selecting their airplanes (I'm American, so maybe you've been taught a different sense of "smart"). Whatever the intent of the phrase is, it's still not something that should be in an encyclopedia. PlayStation in 128-bit era

Article Licensing

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 1000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "{{DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual}}" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. Those articles are a bit redundant with their main articles. Perhaps instead of deleting the articles, material from those articles should be merged into the main articles. Articles with the Rangers individually though should remain separate. Andros 1337 19:37, 1 Jan 2005 (UTC)

You uploaded this image and it's in the Delta Air Lines article. I'd like to replace it, since it is copyrighted, low res, and 3 pictures on the article would be a bit of overkill, with this image (a 757-232) which I am prepared to release under the GFDL. Disco colors

Do whatever you like with the colors. Someone had remarked on how eye-straining the pink was, so I thought I would try something else. Silver didn't work, it came out more like gray. So gold seemed like a good choice. Wahkeenah 02:58, 26 May 2005 (UTC)

The In the news template cannot be updated with a new story unless the rules explained on Wikipedia:In the news section on the Main Page#Criteria for adding entries are followed. Current events hasn't been updated for the story and the bold articles don't have new information concerning this topic. When these changes are complete the article can be posted. Color

Order of Tables on PR articles

I know that logic tells you that the leader should be listed first, and what not, but the order in several of the articles follows any sort of numeric order seen as part of the outfits or the morphing sequence. Working on a move and merge

Gillig Phantom

Why would you need a citation to verify the fact that the Gillig Phantom is one of the longest-running transit models? It's common industry knowledge.

Kitsap Transit in Bremerton, WA still runs some early 1983 models, Mason Transit Authority in Shelton, WA still runs some 1992 and 1993 models, and Intercity Transit in Olympia, Washington still operates a fleet of some 20 or so 1989 models.

Gillig builds the sturdiest bus possible, and many of their buses (even some of their 35-40 year old school buses still in existance) are still on the road some 20 or so years after they left the factory.

At BusTalk.net, the Gillig Phantom is widely regarded as a lighter-duty bus than many of its competitors, such as the New Flyer D40HF, the Orion V, and the Neoplan AN440. The Gillig Advantage, however, is considered to be heavier-duty than the Phantom. Andros 1337 18:24, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

I find that to be odd, since the Gillig Corporation has always advertised the Phantom as a heavy-duty bus platform. I have in fact a brochure from 1982 announcing the arrival of the Phantom and it advertised it as the "next generation" heavy duty transit bus. It is widely regarded as being a heavy duty bus for most transit agencies in Washington State, several fleets of which exclusively run the Phantom. The following quotes are in fact taken from their own website, at the Phantom product page and the Products list page:

"A heavy duty, high floor transit bus that set the standard for reliability, durability and value when it was introduced in the early 1980’s"

"Phantom, a standard floor height heavy-duty transit bus, first introduced in the early 1980's and still used today. Called a fleet workhorse, it has built a reputation of reliability, durability, and value. Of course today it incorporates the latest technologies and many product improvements."

Since the Phantom was nothing more than a rebodied school bus (the front roofcap, roof curve, and windshield elements share similarities with the previous roundbody school bus design from 1967-1982), it already had a legacy of heavy-duty service behind it when it was introduced. Several dozen Gillig school buses are still on the road in Washington State, and in California, some 30 years after they left the factory. And there are some 23-year-old Phantoms still in daily service in some portions of Washington State alone.

The Phantom's overall design has also remain largely unchanged since its 1982 debut, making it one of the longest-running transit bus models to date alone. Not to sound like a sales rep for Gillig (for which I'm not), but Gillig does not, and has never under any circumstances built a light-duty vehicle in their 100+ year history. Fire Pokémon / Electric Pokémon

I was just thinking we should use the officially used colors instead of simple X11 color names. That way, we wouldn't have to worry about having to make up colors (I don't remember Dragon Pokémon ever being referred to as orange; it's always been a dark teal color). The hex triplets of the colors as used in the games have been listed in the PCP's talk page, in case you didn't know. I just thought it'd be nice to use the real colors used in the games (a soft, orange color instead of bright red for Fire). --Brandon Dilbeck 16:56, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

However, those colors are not universally applied. The TCG uses a different color scheme from the 3G games, and even Pokemon Stadium used a different scheme. The trading card game only deals with 9 types (right?), so it doesn't even deal with all of them, or account for the types that aren't in the game. (What color would Bug be if it were in the card game? Green's already taken by Grass.) Maybe we could post this conflict on the Pokémon Collaborative Project's talk page and see what other Pokémon fans say (and some might not even like this idea of adding templates). I am not currently living in Albuquerque and have not seen any of the new buses. In any case, the anon's claimed sighting is not exactly verifiable and probably shouldn't be in the article.

MD-90

Hello.. Sorry for the delayed response, but we've been without electricity up here in the Northwest. I think my rationale for calling the MD-90 the RJ of its day is that in general the initial DC-9 family of planes was generally for 100 seat, short haul markets. I admit I misremember the seat count of the MD-90 (I believe I was thinking of the MD-95/717, which for the most part is a DC-9 replacement) DC-9s and the larger RJ's (E190 etc) play in the same 100 seat, 1-2 hour market.) Also if you take a peek at the edit summary, I was removing an unsubstantiated criticism that the MD-90 was not successful due to its lack of transcontinental ability, I did not put that MD-90s were the RJ's of their day into the article, just the edit summary. New ABQ RIDE Buses

I recall you asked me about what model the 35 new ABQ RIDE buses would be. Well, I talked to Greg Payne (the transit director) today, and he confirmed that they were New Flyer models. The reason why the article said Gillig before was that ABQ RIDE was going to do a "piggyback order" with another transit agency where they order the same model of buses. However Greg Payne didn't like the idea of a piggyback deal, so he made a specific order for the 40-foot New Flyer buses.

About the articles for New Flyer Industries, Orion Bus Industries, Nova Bus (?), and others, you are right, based on the Gillig article, where one model of each could be posted. Fair use should be PNG?

Regarding Image:NYC TLD Logo.jpg I have a question regarding the template {{shouldBePNG}} which you added. If the logo is copyright and non-free, and therefore only a low-resolution reproduction is being used as fair-use, then why should we be trying to replace with a higher resolution equivalent? Would this not violate fair-use? This question is not just for this specific image; I have seen this template added to other images before and would appreciate the reasoning. I am only specifying to change the format, not the resolution. If anyone can find a PNG version of the same resolution, or is able to remove the JPEG artifacts and re-save it as a PNG, then that is not a violation of fair-use. Generally, JPEG is not a deisrable format for logos. JPEG should only be used for photographs, while PNG or SVG should be used for logos, cartoons, or diagrams. Podium/lectern distinction

Re: The edits to the Jeopardy! set pictures. The podium/lectern pet peeve comes up on the Jeopardy! message board every so often, too, so you're not the only one who considers the choice of word counter to its original meaning. But the English language evolves, and the word "podium" is used for "lectern" often enough that any dictionary lists "lectern" as one of the meanings for "podium". This was true even in 1964 when Jeopardy! premiered; the show has always called those things "podiums", and refers to them as such frequently both on-air and off. As "wrong" as it may seem to the language purist, I think the most appropriate thing to do would be to use the show's terminology, just as we use "clues" and "responses" instead of "questions" and "answers". You seem to have mis-read and mis-understood my edit unfortunately. I am not disputing anything, merely pointing out that the source you have given merely states that the two companies are customers of Thompson Solutions, and nothing more as far as I can see. The source certainly confirms that they are customers but not that they manufacture anything for Thompson Solutions. The fact tag is therefore relevant. If I recall correctly there may well be a source which mentions the manufacture being outsourced to other companies, and if so then that source can and should be used. And again - you seem to have misunderstood what I was saying and you also seem to have missed what I said above about there being a source to confirm the manufacturing being done elsewhere. I will say again though - I was not disputing anything. All I said was that the source you were using to verify that the two companies manufactured the seating did not verify that at all. All it verified, as you clearly recognise given you have now amended the article to read "customers", was that they are customers of Thompson Solutions and nothing more. And as you can also quite clearly see from my message above I did think that I had seen a source which mentions the manufacturing being done elsewhere and I said that source could and should be used, which is clearly the Delta Airlines article as you mention. I don't care about what the quality is. What I care about is that I uploaded that file. I am not having the file executed just so a higher quality file can replace it. The image serves its purpose noticeably well, and a png wouldn't do it any better or worse. PNGs and GIFs, therefore, are neutral choices. We're all equal under the eyes of The Lord. Unfortunately, I don't have a clip, however, I can ensure that Aguadilla, Puerto Rico (Choice Cable TV) gets the standalone satellite from the last time I was there, and there were no approaching hurricanes. I am not sure about Puerto Rico's other cable providers (Liberty Cablevision and OneLink), however. It seems to make sense for Puerto Rico to get the standalone satellite rather than radar/satellite, as there are many tropical waves that affect the island. ANDROS¹³³⁷ 21:34, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

New ABQ RIDE update

I believe I heard from someone else who heard from ABQ RIDE folks that they were ordering new buses to replace the older buses (dunno if that means the 300 or 400 series), but that they weren't be ordering new Rapid Ride buses, at least not yet.

If you're gonna

... hang merge tags, initiate a talk page section FIRST, per the instructions giving your rationale (see " Talk:Article 1#Merge proposal " in {{mergeto}}, for example) to change the status quo ante, then link to that section in the tags as is explained in their respective help!

It's pretty stupid to expect others to look for your arguments and find NONE, and discourteous as all hell. All you're doing is asking others to make a decision you can't be bothered to justify, wasting their time and costing yourself a few moments wall papering with tags--you can't be bothered to hang properly!

Also when hanging any tags, use
    {{sometagname |{{subst:DATE}}|some reasoning or objections or whatever}} so others can have a clue, and the BOTs don't have to pick up your dirty dateless socks. The later is particularly valuable with the {{fact}} tag, so people will know what the hell to cite about a sentence or paragraph, but the section initialization for merging is important, so don't just do that. Otherwise these damn tags can hang around forever. Found one once 'bout a year back hung over 23 months earlier, sans merit, either.

I'm considering the information is better noted in the more appropriate table(s) further down.

In addition, the Metro Rail system that is mentioned in places throughout the article operates on electric, using a pantograph (as with many light rail systems).

Probably not, as diesel-electric hybrids aren't the only type of hybrid buses. There also exists both gasoline-electric hybrid buses (common in southern California) and even CNG-electric hybrid buses. ANDROS¹³³⁷ 02:52, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

I might not be understanding the signifigance of this information in the infobox. If the vehicles used are gas, diesel, hybrid, or electric....isn't this information best stated in the actual "fleet" section of most of the articles? The fact that I've already seen this in many of the articles on various transit systems drives the point of a redundant fact that may not be required in the "infobox", which I've assumed is a brief overview for key points that aren't really necessary to have a section about. Hey there. It's John from the Duke City Fix group. I've come here because this is the only way I know how to contact you personally. I wanted to ask you something. I'm planning to add something to the main page of the ABQ Bus Riders group, a "Rider Alerts" thing, in the text box. Basically, it would be for putting down announcements about schedule changes, route detours, etc. Not general news (like Poetry on the Bus or the opening of the NTC), but specific things that affect riders.

I was wondering if you would like to become an administrator for the group and help me maintain this Rider Alerts thing. You'll of course have all the other abilities I have as the creator of the group, but the Rider Alerts is the only thing we would regularly change. I think you'd be perfect, since you're always up-to-date on what ABQ Ride is doing.

The two footnotes given support the old data, not the new. The separate article The Residences at Packard Place gives the new data, but has the same old references. A Google search supports only the old data. If you have good references please consider providing them (in both articles), and if not please consider correcting both articles. It sounds like the old data of 30 and proposed is the best information we have at this point. Red Ranger image

The main problem was that the image was being used to represent both T. J. Johnson and Tommy Oliver. Which is it actually? It can't be both, so I've removed them. In addition, the image pretty clearly fails WP:NFCC, because if we've got an image of a Blue (or Green) ranger in the article, we don't need an identical image with a different colour uniform. Thanks for helping out on this but I dispute it, that is why I put a dispute tag. Not acceptable just to remove the dispute tag.

The diodes error is trivial and I will certainly correct that. Most of the other stuff I don't have any problem with. But simply qualifying by adding "In the United States" is not good enough. We need to do better than that, unless the article is specifically for the US.

Help with the New Georgia Encyclopedia project

Hello, I noticed that you've been working on the Delta Air Lines and History of Delta Air Lines articles lately. The New Georgia Encyclopedia ("NGE") has authorized Wikipedia to merge in several of its articles, which I have copied to project space; one of these is Wikipedia:WikiProject Georgia (U.S. state)/New Georgia Encyclopedia/Delta Air Lines (primarily directed at the history of the company).

If we are able to do a professional job of merging in these NGE articles, the NGE will likely permit us to import their remaining body of over 2,200 well-researched and well-written articles - including several more articles on airlines with connections to Georgia - which could pioneer a trend for other private owners of encyclopedic content to release their materials into our corpus. Romanization for words of English origin

On the MOS:JP talk page, a discussion has been started about including or not including romanizations for words of English origin, such as Fainaru Fantajī in Final Fantasy (ファイナルファンタジー, Fainaru Fantajī) (for the sake of simplicity, I called this case "words of English origin", more information on semantics here).

Over the course of a month, it has become apparent that both the parties proposing to include or not include those romanizations cannot be convinced by the arguments or guidelines brought up by the other side. Therefore, a compromise is trying to be found that will satisfy both parties. One suggestion on a compromise has been given already, but it has not found unanimous agreement, so additional compromises are encouraged to be suggested.

One universally accepted point was to bring more users from the affected projects in to help achieve consensus, and you were one of those selected in the process.

Your edit on Acoustic Alchemy

Could you please explain why you reverted my edit without written reason on Acoustic Alchemy? From your own edits I have seen you have rewrite smooth for contemporary. Let's face it, in today's misrepresentation of true contemporary jazz, "smooth jazz" is the death term for the format (in the common mind, smooth jazz is now looked as a mix of unecessary R&B, adult contemporary, and instrumental covers of tired and bland songs). Ford contour/ escort

The Contour, Focus, and Escort were all on completely different platforms. The Contour was a rebranded version of the European Ford Mondeo, which continues to be sold in Europe and Latin America today, and continues to coexist with the Focus, so how can the Focus be considered its successor? FYI, the Mondeo and Fusion will soon share platforms, so in truth, the Contour/Mondeo is more akin to the Fusion than it is to the Focus. ANDROS¹³³⁷_TALK 21:41, 21 February 2012 (UTC)

Although, considering both the focus and contour (mondeo) were designed in europe, that should have more in common than the escort, which means that the focus also succeeded the contour in the US and Canada for the compact segment. Says who? The platforms are completely independent of each other. Fact is, unless you can find an official source from Ford stating the Focus replaced the Contour, any such claims would be considered original research. The Contour, while considered a compact car under U.S. size classifaction, was still larger than both the Focus and the Escort. Plus, the Contour had a V6 engine option, which neither the Escort nor the Focus offered. In the U.S. marketplace, the Contour's main competitors were the first-gen Chevy Malibu, Pontiac Grand Am, and Dodge Stratus. The Focus and Escort, on the other hand, competed with the Chevy Cavalier and Dodge Neon. Under the European size classification, the Contour/Mondeo is considered a Large Family Car, while the Focus and Escort are considered Small Family Cars. Ok, well the older mondeo(contour) was a small family car, whcih translates into compact for USA terminilogy. The contour, focus, and escort, were all compact cars. So, If the ford focus didn't succeed the contour in the united states and canada, the I don't see how it succeeded the escort. No, the focus didn't succeed the contour(mondeo) in europe, I know that. Also, there is no source saying the escort was replaced by the focus. I challenge that this information should be removed if there isn't a source added. Either way, the Contour was still larger than the Focus, offering a V6 engine which the Escort and Focus lacked. Your argument based purely on size category is very weak, since the Contour's competitors were different from the Focus and Escort. ANDROS¹³³⁷_TALK 21:31, 22 February 2012 (UTC)
