[edit]Hi Tagishsimon. I am sorry for having deleted your paragraphs earlier. They seemed like scribbing a message on the page rather than rewriting the definition and adding additional commentary. I am still new to Wikipedia. Would it not make more sense to address the subjective nature of the designation political prisoner on that page? Including more description would be a good idea. Also what is wrong with using 'memoirist?' The word does appear in the O.E.D. Does it violate some Wikipedian norm? John Hickman
- Hi John; when are you going to get yourself a username! I take your point on discussing the who is & who is not a political prisoner on the political prisoner page, though I'd still be keen we acknowledge the issue and then point to PP for a discussion. Though having read the amended article, it seems very good to me now. As for Memorist, again, I concede that it is in the OED ... I just find it a very uncommon word, but perhaps that is more to do with me than the word? I'd not object if you wanted to Move the page back to the old name ... there's slightly more to say on this but, would discuss more now but the real world bites. Later --Tagishsimon
Can we count the Lebanese hostages (McCarthy, Keenan, Waite, etc) as political prisoners? Deb 11:54, 20 Apr 2004 (UTC)
- It's a valid question. I suggest we add more entries and then start to break them down into categories and duck the strict delineation issue for as long as possible :)
- Prisoners of regimes
- Prisoners of political groups &c
- &c
I'm also up for having a wee bit of a description of these chaps & chapesses in their entry; just a line or two.--Tagishsimon
