[edit]The stub had Lysenko's middle name as "Vitaliyovych", while the New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians has it as "Vytaliyovych". I don't know which one is more valid from a linguistic point of view (I don't even know if Ukrainian is written in the Cyrillic alphabet), so for now I'll go with the New Grove way.
- "Vitaliyovych" is aligned with the Ukrainian pronunciation, which is in Cyrillic. It is the spelling used in books such as Ethnic identity, music, and politics in nineteenth-century Ukraine: The world of Mykola Lysenko. When I get a chance, I will probably beef up this article. --JamesTeterenko 19:01, 23 Aug 2004 (UTC)
The New Grove mentions that Lysenko was a bearer at Shevchenko's funeral, but it's not clear whether this was at the first (Russian) or second (Ukrainian) burial, or maybe both. Dmetric 19:11, 13 Aug 2004 (UTC)
Edited out the Russian spelling of Mykola Lysenko as there is absolutely no need for it to be there. Sorouthorn 18:38 25 August 2004
- Excellent, thank you very much. Dmetric 19:57, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
He was a pall bearer when the coffin got to Brovari on the outskirts of Kyiv for the second burial. Bandurist (talk) 16:29, 12 November 2008 (UTC)
