[edit]I have added a list of musical shows, theatre and film produced in 1950. Before adding similar lists for other years I would like some feedback:
Is it appropriate to include shows in the music section?
Some of the films include songs (sometimes just a title song) but are not full musicals. Should they be excluded?—Preceding unsigned comment added by JohnRogers (talk • contribs) 05:52, 7 September 2003 (UTC)
- I suggest that the list be split betweeen Film Musicals and Musical Shows. If the film is not a musical, exclude it. You could list the songs from non-musical films with a note about the film they were featured in. If you have the information on the shows it would be interesting to note where they were first produced eg Broadway, London etc. Tiles 06:03, 7 Sep 2003 (UTC)
- Thanks for your comments. I think you are right and will split the list as you suggest.—Preceding unsigned comment added by JohnRogers (talk • contribs) 03:47, 13 September 2003 (UTC)
Should this article be reformatted?
[edit]After having looked at the articles for "year" in music, as well as articles for "year" in R&B, "year" in country, etc. I am thinking that the article simply saying "year" in music as far as recorded music goes should include the top 5-10 "pop" hits of the year with a link to more descriptive article including all the Top 10 hits, "notable" recordings, etc. as well as sections for top 5-10 R&B hits and link to full article, etc. As it stands, these articles seem to assert that "pop" is the only music that matters in a given year but adding all the content from the articles focused on other genres of music within that given year will make the article unwieldy and overlong. Does anyone else feel that the articles simply saying (year) in music should be a general overview of the very top hits of the respective genres with spinoff articles detailing the individual genres in depth?
