Home Entertainment Suppliers Pty. Ltd. NES game seal of approval.
Rationale for use in Home Entertainment Suppliers
[edit]- This image shows the seal introduced by HES to combat claims by Nintendo that games sold without the Nintendo Seal of Quality could not be guaranteed to operate properly on NES hardware. Showing the image allows readers to compare it with the NES symbol, and understand the article's comparison between the two.
- The image is being used in an appropriate educational and transformative way, as envisaged by US Fair Use law, to further a discussion of the history of HES and the presentation of its products, in a way that in no sense conflicts with the original use of the symbol. It is in any case questionable whether the sybmol sufficiently achieves the required threshold of originality to attract US copyright protection.
This is a representation of a government, military, regimental, family, or other symbol such as a flag, seal, emblem, coat of arms or crest. This symbol may be copyrighted by its holder. As well, it is known that the representation of this symbol is either copyrighted by the holder of the symbol or is not available under a free licence. There may also be other restrictions on reproduction, including but not limited to article 6ter of the Paris Convention. It is believed that the use of low-resolution images of such symbols
qualifies as non-free use under the Copyright law of the United States. Any other uses of this image, on Wikipedia or elsewhere, may be copyright infringement. See Wikipedia:Non-free content. | |||
