Military history of the United Kingdom
[edit]There is a lot of detail in Military history of the United Kingdom during World War II this is not here, or in the related articles. It would be a nice task for someone to expand these articles based on that (without the UK focus of course). DJ Clayworth 20:54, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)
To the people
[edit]I am in concern. I love you. 24.22.207.72 (talk) 23:50, 7 January 2022 (UTC)
Why Africa
[edit]It is important to explain why the Axis powers wanted to conquer parts of Africa. I assume they wanted oil and the allies wanted to keep them from acquiring it. 2601:86:401:3460:410F:596E:C65:C750 (talk) 18:56, 27 February 2023 (UTC)
- After WW I administration of former Ottoman Empire territories in North Africa were transferred by the League of Nations to Great Britain and France who became responsible for the defence of Egypt and Palestine (Britain) and Syria and Lebanon (France). In the 1930s Mussolini took power in Italy and started colonies in Libya and Italian Somaliland. In 1940 Italy declared war on Britain and France and invaded Egypt from Libya and roughly simultaneously invaded Ethiopia and British Somaliland. Britain and France owned the Suez Canal which was vital for British and French communications with the Far East and so this was to be defended ... and so on...
- ....there was no oil in the area, only in Iran, which was produced by the Anglo-Persian Oil Company - later to become BP. The oil in the rest of North Africa and Arabia was discovered post WW II.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.8.126.91 (talk) 20:09, 8 March 2023 (UTC)
Italian Tunisia?
[edit]The map of the Italian Empire in 1942 includes Tunisia. Is this accurate? Far as I know Tunisia was under Vichy control until Germany occupied Vichy France, late in 1942. The Tunisia article does not mention being temporarily part of the Italian Empire. Jim.henderson (talk) 15:20, 22 December 2023 (UTC)
The so-called "German North African Campaign"
[edit]A huge vandalism occurred a while ago made by Matildahuks. Italy is the main Axis power in North Africa. The German forces was put under Italian command. And The Deutches Afrika Korps was just a contingent to support the Italian war efforts in North Africa. Regards Jheeeeeeteegh (talk) 02:31, 21 January 2024 (UTC)
- I already restore the old and Right version. Not by Matildahuks proposition to his/her Pro-German POV. Regards Jheeeeeeteegh (talk) 02:33, 21 January 2024 (UTC)
