[edit]May be you can reuse two parallel phrases from here, to cope with Basque? Mikkalai 04:19, 11 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- Actually what the heck the basque version for? Doesn't woth efffort. Better add something about the guy. Mikkalai 04:32, 11 Sep 2004 (UTC)
Well, it would be great if someone has something to "add about the guy"; I just got in here because a translator was requested. I think the Basque is worth keeping as an example of a particular language at a particular time (we don't have a lot of those). I'm not too sure what to make of the site you linked to: it seems to modernize his French. -- Jmabel 05:12, Sep 11, 2004 (UTC)
Can anyone say just what dialect the French is? Or is this simply the dominant French of its time? And just what does the passage in Basque say? Is it a translation of the same, or is it a different passage? -- Jmabel
Basque text
[edit]I forgot the meaning of several grammar words, but I have given at least the gist. It is also a route for Placentia (I suppose there was only one port named Placentia in Newfoundland). I don't know if punta Mehea is one of the parts mentioned in the French text. I forgot the meaning of mehe ("weak"?) but it's a common word and I am lazy.
WayneRay 20:04, 21 August 2005 (UTC)WayneRay put in headings and cleaned up tiny grammar. Seems ok now
- The cleanup issue was - and remains - the translation issues (note question marks and untranslated words). -- Jmabel | Talk 00:13, August 22, 2005 (UTC)
Cleanup issues
[edit]I didn't realize at first that the cleanup request was a translation request. So I did some cleanup on some other aspects of the article. Fortunately, just about all of the translation has been finished (or so it appears), leaving only one word in question. I'd say that's enough to remove the cleanup tag, and that goes double after the additional cleanup I did. Best wishes! --Cromwellt | Talk 02:27, 14 October 2005 (UTC)
