MediaWiki talk:Logouttext
You are now logged out. You can continue to use Wikipedia anonymously, or you can log in again as the same or as a different user. Note that some pages may continue to be displayed as if you were still logged in, until you clear your browser cache.
This message is displayed when you decide to log out. Might it not be interpreted as encouragement to have more than just one user name? If so, it wouldn't fit in with the Sock puppet text, which insinuates deception rather than anything else on the part of a multiple-name user. 80.108.19.76 19:51, 2 Mar 2004 (UTC)
- I absolutely agree with the above statement, probably because I wrote it, while logged out, on one of the computers I use to edit Wikipedia articles. <KF> 21:20, 2 Mar 2004 (UTC)
Perhaps it should say something on the lines of "this computer may be used to browse and edit Wikipedia anonymously, or to log on as a different user". This neither explicitly condones, nor condemns, sock puppetry. Martin 22:40, 2 Mar 2004 (UTC)
- How about, to expand on Martin's text: "this computer may be used to browse and edit Wikipedia anonymously, or for another user to log on". This removes any prompting for creating a second account. - Texture 22:43, 2 Mar 2004 (UTC)
- Yes, that sounds good. Martin 23:12, 2 Mar 2004 (UTC)
Wikify?
[edit]Do you think that it would be a good idea to wikify the term user name in the main text? --Siva1979Talk to me 18:19, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

Not sure about the link mentioned in the above section, but I think two particular links here would be useful:
- Link "log on" to Special:Userlogin
- Link "clearing your browser cache" to Wikipedia:Bypass your cache (many users aren't sure what this term means)

- Could
[[Special:UserLogin|log in]]
be[$1 log in]
? It will make the user return to the last viewing page after logging-in. --Lorentz21 (talk) 05:22, 19 August 2018 (UTC)- On hold reviewing on testwiki. — xaosflux Talk 00:59, 23 August 2018 (UTC)
