The article is some kind of gibberish. Could someone who knows about the subject please fix it ?

I agree, this is total nonsense, it should be removed until someone fixes it.

I've been programming for over 30 years and have never seen such mislead information. Gads! I've added a second paragraph that I believe is accurate. Somebody aught to kill that first paragraph though, it is junk!

I killed it, and wrote something that makes sense. Note that segmentation has been around a lot longer than Intel (former 2nd) paragraph. I've referenced Multics (and even it wasn't first), and put the Intel stuff in its own section. --Wws 16:44, 16 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There were many processors which had memory segmentation schemes well before the 8080. Merge proposal

I don't know enough about computer memory to know what's redundant and what isn't; but it seems like "segmented memory" and "segmentation (memory)" both refer to the same thing. Unlike the memory segment article, which is supposed to be x86-specific, these two articles both seem like generic terms with no difference between them to me. 128.113.149.103 18:27, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
