Secret sharing planes
[edit]Hi, thanks for making these: mad skillz indeed! Cheers. I've gone and added them to secret sharing with a brief caption for now. It'd be good to add them to plane (mathematics), too, I think. The images aren't too large; the thumbnailing system makes them a good size for web display, and the larger size helps if they were ever to be printed (that's actually a possibility at some point, as secret sharing is one of about 70 articles for a WikiReader in Cryptography).
Is it OK if I label the images {{GFDL}}? Or do you do the whole multi-licensing / PD thing as well? — Matt Crypto 07:42, 11 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- yeah sure GFDL is good. I'm not that well informed about the various flavours of Gnu license but from what I read in the article about it, GFDL looks appropriate.
- Thanks. — Matt Crypto 21:08, 14 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Did you want text labels put on? And would marking the line / point where the planes intersect improve legibility? I can add these if it does.
- Probably not text labels (since without it's more useful for other language Wikipedias). Regarding marking the point/line -- maybe we should try it and see? I like the "clean" look at the moment, but it might be clearer for the reader if the intersections were emphasised in some way. — Matt Crypto 21:08, 14 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Thanks for the new versions of these images with the intersections highlighted; I think it works well. One thing: I was having a look at Image:Secretsharing-2-line.png, and I wondered if it might be worth playing with the colours a little. The reason being that when the yellow plane passes behind the red, it's quite hard to make out through the transparancy -- do you think there's any way that could be improved? I don't know if there is any practical way to fix this or not.
On a completely different topic, one tip is that you can "sign" your messages by typing ~~~~ after your comments; that way people can keep track of discussions more easily. — Matt Crypto 12:20, 16 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Graphics Lab
[edit]I saw your name listed on Wikiproject Illustration or the list of graphic artists, and I thought I'd let you know that a Graphics Lab has been created on EN. Based on the highly successful French and German graphics labs, it seeks to better organise and coordinate our graphic design and photo-editing efforts. Up until now, there has been no common space on EN where users could ask for maps, charts and other SVG files to be created. What's more, the Graphics Lab has discussion boards, tips, tools and links; in sum, a good common workspace. Come help us out! The infrastucture is already in place, and now we need participants. :) --Zantastik talk 00:42, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
Used your pictures
[edit]Hi,
I added your secret sharing pictures to the article on systems of linear equations. They're quite nice, and I think they improve the article a lot.
By the way, how much effort is required to make these? I wouldn't mind a couple more for the systems of linear equations article, and I imagine that articles like arrangement of hyperplanes could benefit from some similar pictures. Jim 06:01, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
Category:Potentially Good Names For Heavy Metal Bands
[edit]I have nominated Category:Potentially Good Names For Heavy Metal Bands for deletion here. I didn't do this to be rude; in fact, being a huge metal fan myself, I thought it was quite funny. But I don't think it belongs in Wikipedia. --Eastlaw (talk) 19:10, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
- LOL, don't feel bad. If PWI (Posting While Intoxicated) was a crime, I would be serving multiple life sentences right now. I try to be good about it here, but you should see some of the stuff I've posted on discussion boards when I was trashed. --Eastlaw (talk) 01:07, 6 September 2008 (UTC)
New image project
[edit]Hi. This little form letter is just a courtesy notice to let you know that a proposal to merge the projects Wikipedia:WikiProject Free images, Wikipedia:WikiProject Fair use, Wikipedia:WikiProject Moving free images to Wikimedia Commons and Wikipedia:WikiProject Illustration into the newly formed Wikipedia:WikiProject Images and Media has met with general support at Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals/Files. Since you're on the rosters of membership in at least one of those projects, I thought you might be interested. Conversation about redirecting those projects is located here. Please participate in that discussion if you have any interest, and if you still have interest in achieving the goals of the original project, we'd love to have you join in. If you aren't interested in either the conversation or the project, please pardon the interruption. :) Thanks. Moonriddengirl (talk) 17:00, 23 April 2009 (UTC)
