Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Andy Saunders

aThis is an unusual situation - Andy is User:OntarioQuizzer, but was linked from the SmartAsk article, so an article was created (by Nobthehobbit). But as I understand it, users should not have articles about themselves, except in extraordinary circumstances like Jimbo Wales. We were discussing what should be done about this, and it was agreed to move the info to OntarioQuizzer's userpage, but should the article be left as a redirect? Should it still be linked from SmartAsk, in which case a wikilink redirects to a userpage? Adam Bishop 16:40, 24 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- The article seems to imply he was an on-air figure. If this is so, he might be notable enough to have an article about himself (see, e.g., Sheldon Rampton). There's no reason not to have an article about him, if he's notable. No vote. [[User:Meelar|Meelar (talk)]] 17:00, 2004 Aug 24 (UTC)
- Just being an on-air figure doesn't make one notable enough for an article. Redirect to the User page. RickK 18:58, Aug 24, 2004 (UTC)
- Delete - The article reads like a user home page anyway. - Do not redirect to his user page since that would make it a candidate for speedy deletion. - Tεxτurε 20:25, 24 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- As the subject of the article, I think the article should be deleted, not only just for the reasons Adam mentioned, but also because I really am not notable enough for an article. I also think the article content is unsuitable as a user page, as well -- it sounds too formal for me as a person. Also, with the recent additions to the Smart Ask article, the portions of the article that do mention me don't flow with the rest of the article and should be rewritten (in a way that doesn't make it look like I should have a Wikipedia article). Count me as a vote to delete. --OntarioQuizzer 22:51, 25 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- I was the chief author of this article, and I basically wrote it so that there'd be one less red link. In this case, I'll vote to accede to OntarioQuizzer's/Andy's wishes, and let him add any and/or all of this stuff to his user page if he wants. -- nobthehobbit 02:23, 2004-08-26 (UTC)
