Roots Rock Prepschool

[edit]

Billy Childish and his band Thee Headcoats, which also has a reply band Thee Headcoatees, which is characterized by women riding Vespas, is an example of what would have happened if rock and roll had been invented by cool British high school kids, like wondering what would have happened if rockabilly had been invented by The Cramps. Or if minstrelsy had been invented by the Beatles. Instead of escaped slaves meeting in the middle of the swamp at 'Congo Squre' to start brewing American music in colonial Louisiana, as actually happened, picture the cast of Diner putting together music like they know it could be.mcdogm--64.12.116.70 12:02, 1 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Material on Billy Childish's row with Jack White was removed on the basis that it "doesn't need to dominate so much of the article". The reason it does so is that there isn't enough article there to start with. The solution is not to cut out material, but to add material. The row with White shows Childish's character and sense of humour, and was/is the subject of considerable interest. I have reinstated it. Please discuss on this page before cutting this referenced material. Thanks Tyrenius 06:19, 15 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Molestation belongs under "Background", not in opening paragraph

[edit]

The statements regarding Childish's molestation as a child do not belong in the opening paragraph. They should be placed under the "Background" paragraph, since they are part of his childhood, not his career or cultural influence. Placing such statements in the opening paragraph is too tabloid for my taste. Also, it smacks of a sort of bias to me, in that there is an implication that Billy's character should be considered flawed, and thus his work should be downplayed and regarded merely as the work of a madman. 72.78.153.9 08:12, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Moved per your suggestion. It should be mentioned in the lead, but not in such detail. Tyrenius 12:16, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:My-fault.jpg

[edit]

Image:My-fault.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BetacommandBot 05:14, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

TV21?

[edit]

The band TV21 started at least two years after the Pop Rivets, and so are not the predecessor in this situation. Plus, minor point: neither band shared any members (nor were from the same place, nor even really overlap in time by very much at all). A simple search shows the only evidence for linking that band to Billy Childish being this very page. Either provide a source, or strike that line. No? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.65.250.32 (talk) 21:55, 3 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
