Birthplace
[edit]The article mentioned that Mahadevi was born at Allahabad. But I believe it was Faroukhabad. utcursch 11:28, Oct 29, 2004 (UTC)
Monkhood
[edit]From what I've read in her books Mahadevi Verma was not unsuccessful in becoming a Buddhist monk. She apparently visited Sarnath where a Sri Lankan monk was ordaining Indians but changed her mind when the monk refused to look at her directly (because she was a woman and he had taken an oath of chastity). She considered that an insult to womankind and decided against becoming a monk.
- Are you absolutely sure about this? If yes, be bold and add this to the article. I just read somewhere that she was asafal in becoming a bhikkuni, so I wrote it here. utcursch 06:25, Dec 30, 2004 (UTC)

Stamp and award images
[edit]Amkgp, Whiteguru, I note this is now designated a GA and currently on the main page, good work. Two issues, a couple of the non-free images have "n.a." in one or more of their fields. This is not acceptable as for fair use there needs to be compliance with all aspects of WP:NFCC. If these are not remedied, the images will need to be removed from the article so they can be deleted. Cheers. The Rambling Man (Stay alert! Control the virus! Save lives!!!!) 08:47, 30 January 2021 (UTC)
- The Rambling Man OK, thanks for raising this, I will take another look at the article, anon. --Whiteguru (talk) 09:10, 30 January 2021 (UTC)
- No worries, it happens quite a lot and I'm not sure the nuances of NFCC are really covered satisfactorily in WP:GA?. It wasn't so crucial back in the day, but now GAs get a run on the main page via DYK, we're increasing the exposure of non-free images substantially so we need to get the rationales right. Cheers. The Rambling Man (Stay alert! Control the virus! Save lives!!!!) 09:15, 30 January 2021 (UTC)
- Whiteguru, The Rambling Man I have updated the n.a. of the images. Thanks — Amkgp 💬 09:23, 30 January 2021 (UTC)
- The Rambling Man You are right, GA reviews got to DYK so quickly! On a more serious note, WP:NFCC doesn't (currently) get a mention in the reviewing instructions. I'll look into this anon. --Whiteguru (talk) 05:30, 7 February 2021 (UTC)
- Whiteguru, The Rambling Man I have updated the n.a. of the images. Thanks — Amkgp 💬 09:23, 30 January 2021 (UTC)
