Does Evercat's comment on removing the only photo of the page ("That's a gratuitous and unnecessary image") mean it has been removed because it shows nudity? If so, I'm tempted to put it back on the page. <KF> 20:02, 6 Apr 2004 (UTC)
Pat Boone and Notability
[edit]I would argue that Pat Boone covering such a racy song is very notable. It is the epitome of some of the strange notions Americans had during the 1950s (i.e.: A white singer singing the same song as a black singer was more acceptable to the powers that were.) This song, in particular, is drained all of its spirit in Mr. Boone's recording, yet, I am sure that it was the only version available to some of the record-buying public when released. Rewrite
[edit]I just removed most of the overly detailed info on this dab page. Remember that this is a disambiguation page, not an article page; most of the information that was here previously belongs in articles like Tutti Frutti (German TV show), not on this page. (I didn't move it myself because nothing was cited.) For reference, please see MoS:DAB. --SuperNova |T|C| 06:39, 25 April 2006 (UTC)
Translation
[edit]"Tutti i frutti" would be "all fruits". Tutti frutti just doesn't make sense. --Exephyo (talk) 12:35, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
- 'All fruits' would be 'tutte le frutte' in Italian, actually - 'tutti frutti' is really fake Italian for 'all fruits', and 'frutti' is only used in 'frutti secchi' to refer to dry fruit, but not to fresh fruit. I have tried to edit this page to reflect this fact and it has been reverted back without reason whatsoever. Would appreciate if anyone did change to reflect that 'tutti frutti' is actually not an Italian phrase. 2A02:6B67:6628:0:A069:14E4:99D5:3CC3 (talk) 13:05, 3 December 2022 (UTC)
- In fact frutti (plural of frutto) is also used with the meaning of fruits, although rare: wikt:frutto. The 1838 New Sicilian-Italian Dictionary (Nuovo dizionario siciliano-italiano), by Vincenzo Mortillaro, already cites tutti-frutti, describing it as "una maniera di sorbetto, ov'entrano dei minuzzoli di frutti, e conserve, senza averne la forma" (from it:Tutti frutti (gastronomia)). —capmo (talk) 20:04, 4 December 2022 (UTC)
