Rewritten by JessicaX^
[edit]I've managed to at least, from what i researched, write up a non-biased peice of literature about this band, as well as collecting pictures. Whoever did it before, must have just been wanting to inject information into the peice, still, it's all better now, i hope!
Thanks to those who pointed it out! JessicaX :3
Edit by Mewish
[edit]The version Smoove K edited was my revision. It's definately a little biased toward the group, but it's not a bias that hurts the informational quality of the page. Just about any American History book that you read is somehow biased. There's no direct references to "omglol HALCALI is soo kewl!!1", I don't see the problem with a semi-positive review of their style, it encourages people to widen their musical tastes. Anyhow, my revision was mostly some *heavy* rewording for grammatical enhancement. The pictures used are all off of the official HALCALI website. For informational purposes, I also included all of the songlists and release dates as found on amazon.co.jp. Mewish

ANY bias hurts the quality of ANY page in the Wikimedia Project. It's that bias that makes an entry less credible, and it is that bias that would make a reader less likely to explore the topic out of pure interest and more likely to ignore it as aloof.
OK. I checked the official site and look at the copyright listing. If you can't read Japanese I can let you know what to look for in the future as far as using images. There is no explicit statement against using the pictures elsewhere for non-commercial use without permission, but this is VERY common with entertainment sites. Be careful in the future.
Wikipedia is not a place for reviews, or for saying things "seem" a certain way, or "possibly" this or that when the proper information exists. Encouraging is not the goal, whether it be refraining from labeling George W. Bush as "powerhungry" or claiming that a duo of teen girls "moved away from the influence of the producers". All statements must be easily backed up by outside evidence. Gut instinct of oneself or another person, or the statement of someone profiting from the ideas of the statement do not count, and must be deleted or balanced with an opposing viewpoint.
For the record, I have enjoyed the music since being introduced to it and have nothing against the group (except that my own girlfriend is much more attractive ;P), but the goal of the Wikipedia Project is to create an encyclopedic resource that is easy to update, free of error or bias, and contains a certain level of quality in writing and research. Your grammar errors are forgiven as easily remedied, but please do not insert any single opinion unless balanced, researched, and, most important: NECESSARY. Again, the Japanese article is incredibly good in its presentation of fact and its neutrality. If you are able to read it I urge you to do so and learn from it for future entries and revisions.. You've got a point. I reread the article, and it doesn't seem like you've pruned anything too valuable. I was referring to the previous edit's grammar, as it was conversational e-mail at best (although some good information was included). Most of the "biased" material is circa JessicaX's edit, although being a new user I have not yet mastered Wiki format. The stateside success of HALCALI is a little mysterious, from what I've seen. 9/10 Japanese schoolgirls have no idea what I'm talking about. My interest is from seeing a Flash animation with the sample from タンデム "tandem" @ dickcream and remembering the artist's name when looking for music in a ゲオ. Mewish 05:31, 27 September 2005 (UTC)
Fixup
[edit]I'm just wondering how anyone comes to find out about these independent groups. I haven't seen one shred of them for years and I'm a permanent resident of Japan. Upon seeing the DVD in the store this weekend I went looking into them, and it turned out a friend of mine enjoyed them as a guilty pleasure.
Also, is it fair to have a Wikipedia entry read like a fansite? This entry seems to imply that they write their own music and other facets read strongly slanted as fan worship. I'll work to add neutrality a bit later.
The sound is also defined as "hip hop" on Japanese sites and largely "J-pop" on English sites. Listening to bits of the music I'll have to agree to the former and modify the article accordingly. User:Smoove K 00:20, 26 September 2005 (UTC)
OK, I fixed up the article to fit the Wiki format, and to strip away the fan-based POV content. Smoove K 03:42, 26 September 2005 (UTC)
And, one more... Apparently there's a Japanese Wiki so I linked to it. It's actually well written and has all pertinent information, so a simple translation from the Japanese might be best. I'll leave that for someone else to decide, though. Unless the group does something else of note I think the article is probably acceptable now even if a bit of minimalization is better.
And to JessicaX, above... Are the pictures you added public domain? Since the Japanese article has no pictures I wonder if you somehow had access to media that the Japanese fans don't... Not that it should matter too much, as I doubt anyone affiliated would stumble in here. Smoove K 06:59, 26 September 2005 (UTC)
This Isn't a Competition!
[edit]Stop trying to sound as if you're reinventing the wheel - I wrote what i wrote from information from Various people who knew of the band, and information i can find on a Band. You're fooling youself if you can really ground an article on a Pop Group in fact, because as you know, PR is mostly used - Halca and yucali might not even be their real names.
The edits you made, "circa" my edit were just grammatical changes and swap-arounds. As i say, i'm not a native english speaker, so i apologise for whatever mistakes i made, but certainly - A lot of the points you've made aren't anything to do with this article at all "HALCALI are kewl111!1" was NEVER even mentioned, so try to keep the information you quote accurate, because there's never been edits like that.
Again, I alread STATED that most information i knew was from PEOPLE I SPOKE TO; Referrred to herein as some form of Heresay. So, i'm glad someone's grammatizing it, but REALLY, a lot of the information in there has just b een chipped at, with not much changed. The majority of the content was made by me, because i expanded the article originally (I'm not going to explain AGAIN where i got my information) - you made edits, great - But dont start shouting at people around here, Everyone's doing their job i guess - smoove K did some things, so just let it slide, it's not a competition.
So, to recap; 1) Information gathered from people is usually based on opinion. 2) I would have rather have expanded semi-correct ifnroamtion than a very short, and still "malformed article". 3) I do not know of HALCALI, i expanded the article because it was originally badly formatted. 4) I can not stress how much this article is not a competition or, a peice for a blog.
Just relax, and stop trying to make everything sound as if you've completeley revolutionised the article. Maybe in grammar yes, but on the whole, the information on there is on the basis of that which i expanded. End. (Jessica(Succeeded) 14:40, 6 October 2005 (UTC))
Dispute of the move based upon MOS
[edit]I'm by no means a fan, but i saw the move in a recent related changes and it's wrong. Firstly, if the title of something is deliberately in capitals then it's an idea to keep it that way so that it's accessible. So far as i know, the move was done as per the "REALTOR" example; "but, don't invent new formats: MCI is standard English, while "Mci" is essentially never used.". If the title is moved to "Halcali", it indicates that it is essentially some form of English or Japanese word used as a band title, which it isn't.
Through just looking at several sites on google and on halcali.com (lowercase because of DNS restrictions and nothing else), and, although each letter is not representative of anything the term HALCALI makes it far less ambiguous than "Halcali". For an example, see "M*A*S*H" -- if it was M*a*s*h, then although still referring to an army surgical hospital, it adds somewhat of an ambiguity as the word both means "to mash" and the title itself. Although these aren't exact parallels, they are similar in that a title has been kept for the sake of accessibility. ♥♥ ΜÏΠЄSΓRΘΠ€ ♥♥ slurp me! 16:02, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Halcali tougenkyo cover.jpg
[edit]Image:Halcali tougenkyo cover.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
