Strictly this page is incorrect as the ring road was a politically charged idea dating back to the 70's and 80's which was only partially completed (Greensborough to West Gate) and has now been abandoned. The other projects are quite distinct and shouldn't be under the ring road banner - I will rewrite this after some research. Andypasto 02:06, 23 Apr 2005 (UTC)

planned connection between Eastern Freeway and the current Metropolitan Ring Road This particular road is a political hot potato - this would would run through some sensitive places, such as Eltham. As such any plans are hard to come by - nobody wants to put their head on the chopping block. The Melways is the best source of information I have come across, but I am 100% positive that Vic Roads will have information of all of the plans over the years, of course they wouldnt promote that.

Melbourne is located on the northern shores of Port Phillip Bay, no freeway to the south would be required. Rubbish! Just because there is water there, doesn't mean we will never need a southern link. Under the heads? I think the water depth there is about 90m - the ancient Yarra bed being there. It would have to be a very deep tunnel. Maybe Altona to St. Kilda, or even Moorabbin would be nice.. but not cheap! --Commking 05:54, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
