Controversy

[edit]

Some quotation is needed regarding C. Dolores Tucker's complaints about the inner cover cartoon of the CD, and that Snoop calls the women biatchez and ho's in the songs. Someone know how to cite Documentary films (Welcome to Death Row)? Is there a template for it? Lajbi Holla @ me 2 May 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:SnoopDoggyDoggDoggystyle.jpg

[edit]

Image:SnoopDoggyDoggDoggystyle.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:17, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

GAN on hold

[edit]
  • "artist Snoop Doggy Dogg" - not just Snoop Dogg?
No. It's not only a matter of choice but also a copyright issue, the executive producer of this album (and at that time Snoop's too) owns the rights for that "artist name/stage name", that's the reason Snoop changed it for his 3rd album and started to endorse the license for his own albums under his new pseudonym.Lajbi Holla @ me 10:41, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • "The album was recorded after Dr. Dre's debut release of The Chronic, the album which is credited with founding and popularizing the G-Funk sub-genre within gangsta rap." - change comma to semi colon
  • "of a popular sex position" - you can link to it (Doggy style) rather than to the list
  • Ref 4 (and related comment); is TheRip a reliable source?
  • "of Dr. Dre's debut album" - better to just use the album title here
  • "With the album being released after his contributions on The Chronic, along with Dr. Dre's debut solo single "Deep Cover", resulted in the album being highly-anticipated by Hip hop fans" - doesn't really make sense, read it aloud and try to reword
  • "While recording Doggystyle with Dr. Dre in August 1993, Snoop Dogg was arrested in connection with the death of Phillip Woldermarian, a member of a rival gang who was fired at and killed in a gang fight" - any more info about this...?
  • Overlinking of Dre in Production section. Wlink Rolling Stone though.
  • Some of the production quotes are more reception-ish...might want to merge with recording section above...layout is a bit all over as is...
  • No need to include (sample) for the music sample; it's obvious
  • Vibe comments in Critical recognition section unsourced, it seems
  • Unless it's from CD universe; in that case, duplicate the ref for each quote

Leave me a note when done. Cheers, dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) 10:40, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've took care of most of the tasks you requested, I removed 'TheRip' as a source since it was just a college site. I just left the production and recording sections seperate because I think this shows the recording process and then the end product which was created when the album was released. If you believe that the article doesn't reach GA standard in this layout, i'll go back and change it. Thanks - Guerilla In Tha Mist (talk) 18:36, 3 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The layout looks fine...if you're thinking about FAC for this one, make sure you take not of the issues raised last time (significance, influence, etc...). Good luck anyways! dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) 00:25, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This GAN has passed, and this is now a good article! If you found this review helpful, please consider helping out a fellow editor by reviewing another good article nomination. Help and advice on how to do so is available at Wikipedia:Reviewing good articles, and you can ask for the help of a GAN mentor, if you wish.

Jail

[edit]

Was he actually in jail on the release date of the album? This is notable enough to appear in the lead paragraph if true. Tempshill (talk) 18:32, 15 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I Think the Black Culture Section....

[edit]

is unnecessary and ignorant. it's just plain ignorant. but really - it has almost nothing to do with this specific album and doesn't draw conclusions about this album's influence on black culture, instead extrapolating and tackling all of gangsta rap culture - I'm gonna take that out and this is why. 65.43.212.47 (talk) 03:52, 25 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

rating

[edit]

there are two rolling stone ratings. a 4 star and a 5 star. put them next to eachother and mark the years they were both posted, because im assuming the 5star was a later change. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.189.37.123 (talk) 22:48, 11 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Needs Work..

[edit]

this page sounds like it was writen by a 12 year old addressing a 5 year old. it doesnt need to be THIS in-depth. it just sounds off topic and irrelevant when it comments that video was shot in a lowrider (and then very absurdly explains what it is) or that a track that was cut off the album was precisely 4 minutes 36 seconds long. cmon now, if this is a hip hop classic it needs to be treated as such, it doesnt need to be dumbed down. i understand that wikipedia is to inform, but when you have this much information in the article it draws away attention from the point, which its place in hip hop history. it looks pretty complete, nothing needs to be added, but this page could stand to lose a lot of inane details. peace —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.32.122.211 (talk) 02:10, 19 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Since Allmusic have changed the syntax of their URLs, 1 link(s) used in the article do not work anymore and can't be migrated automatically. Please use the search option on http://www.allmusic.com to find the new location of the linked Allmusic article(s) and fix the link(s) accordingly, prefereably by using the {{Allmusic}} template. If a new location cannot be found, the link(s) should be removed. This applies to the following external links:

Why are we censoring song titles?

[edit]

There is no song called "For All My ****** & ******." 103.17.199.208 (talk) 08:12, 8 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. No need to censor. Besides, when you use the N word and end it with a Z then it's perfectly acceptable. FiggazWithAttitude (talk) 17:26, 11 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
