Airedale images

Hi, thanks for your contributions to dog pages.

On the Airedale page, I replaced the original full-dog photo in the breed table; it shows the complete dog much better than just a head shot. I moved the head shot Image:RoyceHead.JPG further down in the article, but it needs to have information added to its image page about the source of the photo and under what license it's being released to the public, such as {{GFDL}} or {{PD}}; otherwise, we'll sadly have to remove it from Wikipedia. I would love to do this but have no idea how to do it. These two pictures are of my own dogs and taken by myself and are therefore free to be used by anyone for any purpose. So, could you please edit the page with the appropriate tab or tell me how to do it?

Sure! One easy way to do it is to click on the photo in the Airedale article. That takes you to its image page. Click Edit This Page and then you can edit it just like any other. Then just type what you said above and in this case add the text {{PD}} which means that you're placing them into the public domain. Then save the page as always. Ta-da! Thanks. We have a series of dog related videos/DVD's that would especially interest readers of the dog pages, especially 'HOW TO GROOM AN AIREDALE' for Airedale enthusiasts. Wikipedia generally doesn't include links to commercial sites. The only exception that I'm aware of is that,if you include the ISBN of a book, it creates a link to Amazon so that you can see details about the book. I'm not sure whether that's an inconsistent policy strategy... but that's the way it is. Otherwise everyone with anything to sell related to any dogs would start putting links to their sites in the articles & then it sort of becomes a commercial site with a lot of unmaintainable links. Your site looks nice, though. The only way around this was if there were a noncommercial airedale-related site that has links to lots of airedale-related pages (noncommerical primarily) that also had a link to your site, you could include that noncommercial site's URL in the article. You seem to be off to a good start. Hopefully you will soon join the vast army of Wikipediholics. You may wish to review the welcome page, tutorial, and stylebook, as well as the avoiding common mistakes and Wikipedia is not pages. The Wikipedia directory is also quite useful. In addition, if you made any edits before getting an account, you may wish to assign those to your username.

By the way, an important tip: To sign comments on talk pages, simply type four tildes, like this: ~~~~. This automatically adds your name and the time after your comments.

Airedale Terrier article organization

While you're adding info to the page, do you want to also take a stab at adding appropriate headers? You certainly don't have to, but since it looks like you're enjoying working on this article, I thought you might want to do this, too. A typical organization for a dog-breed article would have headers like these:

• ==History==
• ==Appearance== (often includes size, coat, build, tail, like that)
• ==Health== (often includes common ailments, longevity, stuff like that)
• ==Characteristics== (or ==Attributes== ) (often includes decription of temperament, what they're good at, etc.)

For examples, see Alaskan Malamute or American Cocker Spaniel or even Australian Cattle Dog (for a slightly different set of headings). Thanks! Elf | Talk 23:33, 14 Feb 2005 (UTC)

There's a procedure to get this done; read and follow the Procedure section here: Wikipedia:Changing_username. Commercial sites/book ISBNs

I misspoke above about what happens with a books' ISBN--it does not take you to Amazon; it takes you to a Wikipedia page with automatic links to many, many sites both noncommercial and commercial through which you can access the specified book.
