Gamal Mubark leaving Egypt?
[edit]Citation for this goes to a non-existent link and I've been unable to find corroboration elsewhere. Since it involves a living person, is contentious, and (now) unsourced, I've deleted it. --Sjsilverman (talk) 22:24, 28 January 2011 (UTC)
- Subsequently found other references to this. Appears that this was an unsubstantiated rumor that showed up on a single US Arab language website and was then picked up elsewhere. Other sources have denied (See http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503543_162-20029614-503543.html). Daily Mail (original reference) deleted story from its website. --Sjsilverman (talk) 22:43, 28 January 2011 (UTC)
- Subsequent report from BBC (albeit only in a twitter feed) that Mubarak was in london gives this more credibility. Then denied by Egyptian TV. I don't see any rush to include this unconfirmed information in article until/unless confirmed, and am deleting it.--Sjsilverman (talk) 19:57, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
- FYI, I just deleted the same stuff from Suzanne Mubarak. Asavaa (talk) 17:40, 31 January 2011 (UTC)

Professor Stephen Zunes BBC Interview
[edit]Could we get an exact citation for this interview, as well as the relevance of this Professor ? Otherwise it just seems to be a random throw-in to support the views listed. Ampersandestet (talk) 08:38, 31 January 2011 (UTC)
Nationality
[edit]One hears rumors that Jamal has British nationality. True? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.208.105.129 (talk) 23:41, 3 February 2011 (UTC)
Gamal and the Military
[edit]I came to the article to find the rationale for why Mubarak's grooming of his son never included a stint for Gamal in the military, or attendance at a foreign military academy. The article IMPLIES that the reason would be that the grooming in general was supposed to be just subtle enough for plausible deniability, but given that Nasser, Sadat, and Hosni Mubarak all derived their legitimacy from the military, their own service, and the Free Officers Movement that founded modern Egypt, could we please at least have a section focused on the issue? The military allegedly didn't like Gamal precisely because he was a civilian -- and pre-2011 that was the most salient thing standing between Egypt and a dynastic autocracy.
Why isn't that even mentioned? -96.231.112.101 (talk) 15:05, 20 October 2012 (UTC)
