Hi Jonathan. I'm not entirely sure I understand your question, but I think what you are asking is whether you can quote something that is copyrighted. As long the use could be classed as fair use, and you make it clear what you are quoting, and separate this from the rest of the text, this should be ok. For example:

Article text is here. Such and such said
"This is the copyrighted part that is clearly a separate quote"
Rest of article here.

You can't stop that being altered by others, since it's a wiki, but as it is supposed to be a direct quote, there shouldn't be any reason for someone to go changing it. You can't make it an actual invariant section since Wikipedia does not allow those. If people altering it maliciously worries you, then it might be better to just link to that text on an external website, if it is available anywhere, rather than including it in the article. I assume you are only talking about a very small passage that needs to be quoted in the article rather than uploading whole texts? Does this answer your question? If not, please let me know.
